Step Four:This Is Awful

While definitely not the most fun step in the Creative Wave, this one is just as vital as all of the others.  Although you feel discouraged at this point, keep the faith that you will eventually solve the problems that seem insurmountable right now.  Keep moving forward and thinking the details through and the answer will come to you.  Read these tips and advice on how to overcome this feeling of hopelessness.

In 2014, between Regionals and State, my team decided that we should add some "water boxes" to our solution.  The boxes would be filled with colored water and then drain to reveal hidden pictures.  This idea sounded amazing, and I enthusiastically took on the challenge.  After days of work creating my own water tanks out of Plexiglas and joint glue, I called my teammates over to fill them with water and give them a trial run.  As we poured more and more water in I was excited to see that they were working!  Then, there was a loud noise, and one of the tanks literally exploded, spewing blue colored water all over the basement and our clothing.  This was definitely a "This Is Awful" moment, and I relied heavily on the advice below to get through this phase.
